Dear diary,
Today
I had the joy of waking up to the beautiful boarding school bell. I was
so excited to wake up after a long night of thirty-minute intervals in
between which I had constantly been reminded that my wonderful roommate
Eve was still alive, screaming about snails and unicycles in her sleep.
After a long 15-minute reflection on what baby oil is made from since
corn oil is made from corn and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, I heard the Congolese music that
Irena had decided to crank up to get me up and fresh
for the day. As we were dancing to this beautiful cultural beat while
brushing our precious pearls I had just remembered that I had forgotten
to put Sense and Sensibility in my bag. I quickly ran back to my room,
toothbrush in my mouth, to erase the crime I had just almost committed.
But who was this I had just ran into? It was Krisztina and Victoria who
were trying their best to imitate roly-polys in the corridor. Uh oh! I
had just tripped over one of them, I wasn’t sure which one it was, all I
knew was that I was lying there, toothpaste all around me, with Mara
looking down and screaming at me to put my coat on because were already 5
minutes late and it was time to head out and seize the day. Today was
Chocapic day! Everyone was very excited, especially Marion, who had
gotten there extra early to make sure she had plenty of energy for the
day! As I carried my platter as carefully as possible, trying not to
spill my overly sugary lemon tea all over my bread, I noticed Cailan from
the corner of my eye looking quite cross. His wide red eyes and brutal
hand movements were indicating that he wanted me to go get the water jug
that morning. Who did he think he was? I had so far held the record of
not getting the water jug for more than a year, and nobody had the power
to change that! Especially Cailan! So I sat down, proud as a daisy, but
everybody at the table was judging me for what I had just done. Andrei
went as far as shaking his head continuously out of disgust and throwing
little pieces of bread at me as if I were a dumb duck. I was very mad
that no one wanted to acknowledge my wanting to hold a historical
non-jug-filling record, so I left the table dramatically, throwing the
fat bread crumbs back at Andrei’s face and moving to another table,
facing Lou this time. Lou was finishing up her breakfast; she just had a
small Clementine left. I had an urge to be extra sweet with her that
morning so I decided to slide a little note in her clementine. The note
read: “Have a great day, you’re awesome! <3<3”. I got more and
more excited has she was peeling her clementine, hoping my little note
would make her smile. But the more clementine she ate, the more impatient
I started getting. Where did the note go? Suddenly I heard a big cough escape her mouth. And another one, even bigger this time, succeeded
by three smaller ones. Before I knew it her face turned Mara’s-hair-colour red! She was choking! I had no idea what to do!
Thankfully Augustin was there: his dad’s a dentist, I told myself, so he
must know what to do!! I started screaming at him to do something but
his face turned redder and redder as he explained to me, hopelessly,
that dentists don’t do that sort of stuff. So the two of us just stood
there looking at Lou, telling her how sorry we were. A few minutes flew
by, and Lou’s state wasn’t getting any better. I was on a quest to find
the most qualified person to help Lou turn back to her natural peach
colour. There, I saw Tahmida standing with Mila in the middle of the
Rotonde. I always knew Tahmida wanted to be a doctor, so who else would
be more qualified to deal with the Lou incident? As I approched them, I
could feel that they were looking at me in a judgemental manner, and I wanted to know what was going on! So I asked them politely if i could
take part in their discussion. They just told me about how they thought I
looked a little bit like a penguin that day. I started getting
extremely mad! First the jug incident, then the Lou incident, and now
this! It was getting out of hand!! Thankfully, Léa was there to stop me
from getting too mad. She sat me down, getting me to calm down as she
reassured me that I didn’t look too much like a penguin. But wait!
Through all of this drama I had forgotten about Lou! I quickly ran back
to her, and saw Violette, Emma and Tristan surrounding her. What was
going on now?
